Supporting Vancouver Island University's Academic Plan, Facilities Services & Campus Development is a service oriented department charged with planning, developing, operating, and maintaining Vancouver Island University buildings and grounds in a cost effective, safe, secure and sustainable manner.
Facilities Services is responsible for the operations and maintenance of all VIU campuses and facilities. Specific areas of responsibility include:

- Security and Access Control
- Shipping and Receiving

Following the COVID-19 outbreak, VIU engaged a third-party engineering consulting firm to assess the state of VIU building mechanical systems.
