1. Service Request
To request general maintenance or small improvements (such as hanging pictures or installing shelves), submit a Service Request.
*Service requests can also be requested in advance to accommodate event planning.

2. Project Request
To engage with Campus Development for proposed departmentally-funded capital upgrades such as renovations, furniture reconfigurations, employee moves or any other proposed changes to VIU's buildings, systems or grounds, please visit Campus Development for further information.
A Project Request is for work beyond the scope of a Service Request with Facilities Services. A Project Request requires planning and coordination due to its multi-disciplinary nature, and is usually over $2,000. These are capital upgrades such as: renovations, furniture reconfigurations, changes to electrical / mechanical systems, new flooring, fixtures etc.
3. Confidential Shredding Pick-up Request
Complete the Material Handling Form to request pick up of paper to be shredded.
4. Fleet Vehicle Request and Driving at VIU
Complete the online Fleet Vehicle Request Form located under the Fleet Vehicles section, on Guide to Services.
Effective January 1, 2022, all VIU fleet driving permits will be processed by Facilities Services.

5. Heating and Cooling Problem

6. Janitorial Request
If you have any questions regarding cleaning practices during COVID-19, please review Cleaning Practices During COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions.
- To report janitorial issues please send concerns to Facility@viu.ca.
- For additional janitorial requests please complete the Janitorial Request Form. Note: additional services may be charged back to the requesting department.
- Additional Bulk Recycling Pick-Up - please submit a Material Handling Form to request pick up.
- To order cleaning supplies or personal protective equipment (PPE), please submit a Service Request and include a cost centre.
7. Key / Card Access Request
Employees needing keys and/or card access are required to submit separate online Key / Card Access requests. Please contact your your department secretary for submission of this form.

8. Move and Material Handling Request
Please complete the Material Handling Form. If additional information is required, Facilities Services will contact you. If a computer move is required, please fill out a Service Request.

Material Handling requests are used for:
- Moving boxes or furniture
- Supply of any available surplus furniture from storage
- Pick up shredding/destruction of confidential documents
- Rental of tent tops for special events
- Ordering of official letterhead
- Ordering of exam booklets

10. Report an Access issue
If you encounter any physical barriers like an out of order elevator, powder door opener, construction blocking a path, etc. please Report an Access Issue.
